This policy covers YouTube Speed Ladder, YouTube Focus Mode, and YouTube AI Summary Companion. It explains what each extension uses, where that data goes, and how users stay in control.

What each extension handles

YouTube Speed Ladder

Adjusts YouTube playback speed on a user-defined schedule. It works locally in the browser and does not send data to the developer or to third parties.

Data used and stored

  • Starting speed, interval, increment amount, and the continue-session preference.
  • Temporary per-tab playback state such as the current speed, timer status, and remaining interval.

Sharing and transmission

None. Settings and playback state remain on the user’s device in Chrome local storage. Per-tab state is removed when its tab closes.

YouTube Focus Mode

Hides recommendation surfaces and other distractions on YouTube. It makes no external network requests.

Data used and stored

  • The on/off preference for Focus Mode.
  • A duplicate of that preference in YouTube page storage so the extension can apply the setting before the page finishes loading.

Sharing and transmission

None. The preference remains on the user’s device and is not sent to the developer or to third parties.

YouTube AI Summary Companion

Creates summaries from YouTube captions and supports optional Notion export. External data transfers happen only when the user requests the related feature.

Data used and stored

  • User preferences, custom instructions, Gemini API key, optional Notion integration token and target page ID.
  • YouTube video identifiers, metadata, transcript-derived hashes, generated summaries, and cache timestamps.
  • A short-lived print payload used to create a local PDF, removed after the print view loads.

Sharing and transmission

When the user asks for a summary, the selected video’s transcript, basic video metadata, the user’s custom instructions, and Gemini API key are sent over HTTPS directly to Google’s Gemini API. When the user asks to export, the summary, YouTube link and metadata, Notion token, and target page ID are sent over HTTPS directly to Notion’s API. The developer does not operate an intermediary server and does not receive this data.

Security, retention, and choices

Collection and sale

The extensions do not sell user data, use it for advertising, transfer it for creditworthiness or lending, or allow the developer or other people to read it. No data is collected for a purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.

Security

External requests made by YouTube AI Summary Companion use HTTPS. Credentials are kept in Chrome local storage and are used only to authenticate user-requested Gemini and Notion operations.

Retention and deletion

Local preferences remain until changed, cleared, or the extension is uninstalled. AI summaries remain in the local cache until the user clears the relevant cache or uninstalls the extension.

Third-party services

Data sent directly to Google Gemini or Notion is governed by the user’s relationship with those services and their respective privacy terms. Those services process data only when the user activates the corresponding feature.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

If data practices change, this policy and the relevant in-product and store disclosures will be updated before the new practice is introduced.
